Tomoya Okazaki, a high school student currently in his third and last year, is one of the schools delinquents and has been since his father started drinking and smoking because of his wife's and Tomoya's mothers death in a car accident. One day when he is walking to school he meets a girl, Nagisa Furukawa, she is also a third year, but she is repeating because of an illness and because this she does not have a lot of friends so the two start hanging out and as time goes by Tomoya's life begins shifting in a new direction.
